Week 1 of each month:
The View Challenge
Hosted by Jen
It should be very simple to follow.
Your challenge is to decide on a view that you love and take a photo of it at some point this week, when the light is good and/or you have time. Over the year we will then have one photo a month of that view which will show the changes in the seasons. Of course if your favourite view is completely urban then this won't be so obvious, but it doesn't matter a bit about that.
I am also offering a challenge to scrap those photos, now, please don't panic, this is entirely optional.
If you did want to join in then there will be a 12x12 layout and sketch and instructions or a 5x7 option for a speedier minibook version. If I do get anyone joining me in this then I will also offer how to make covers for these scrapbooks to tie it all together.
The theme that I am going to use for this is a favourite childhood poem.
The months
January brings the snow,
Makes our feet and fingers glow.
February brings the rain,
Thaws the frozen lake again.
March brings breezes loud and shrill,
Stirs the dancing daffodil.
April brings the primrose sweet
Scatters daisies at our feet.
May brings flocks of pretty lambs,
Skipping by their fleecy damns.
June brings tulips, lilies, roses,
Fills the children's hands with posies.
Hot July brings cooling showers,
Apricots brings the and gilly flowers.
August brings the sheaves of corn,
Then the harvest home is borne.
Warm September brings the fruit,
Sportsmen then begin to shoot.
Fresh October brings the pheasants,
Then to gather nuts is pleasant.
Dull November brings the blast,
Then the leaves are whirling fast.
Chill December brings the sleet,
Blazing fire, and Christmas treat.

See you in January

Week 2 of each month : The Let's reflect challenge
Hosted by Anne
Hello everybody,
I will be your host on the 2nd Monday of each month during 2013. I am full of enthusiasm and excitement but I never hosted a challenge before so you might have to bear with me a bit !
For those not knowing me, I am French, mid fifties and I live in the South of England with Hubby Dennis and the Girls ( who are 2 Golden Retrievers : Rhea and Bubbles). Oh and being French means you certainly will spot some orthography and syntax mistakes that I apologize for in advance.
I am the type of seeing the glass half full instead of half empty and I always try to see positive in everything, but being like anybody else, it's sometimes very difficult to do that especially when going through difficult times.
As we all go through good and bad times as part of life, I thought we could try doing it together and build something we could go back to for support.

I have selected an expression ( or is it a word ? ) that I believe fits beautifully and it is :
Silver lining
I
do believe there is a silver lining in everything, we just have to find
it. So for each of the 12 challenges, we will work on a word starting
with each of the 12 letters of silver lining.
We will try to know ourselves and our loved ones better and our
goal over this year will be to build a record of these 12 words ( in a
form that speaks to us like a mini-book or some scrapbooking pages, or
simply some art journalling ) on which we can look back over the next
years and get some inspiration from. You will be able to take a picture or many pictures and I should be including some crafting ideas ( still in development ).
We certainly will learn from each other but the important part is you will be doing something for yourself. Some of us will feel very comfortable with sharing certain things and some of us won't want to share that much. There is nothing wrong with either way so feel free to share as much or as little as you want to (Hidden journaling can be a good way of sharing). As long as the challenge brings something positive in your life, then my goal will be reached.

I hope that by the end of 2013, we all will feel a bit stronger, closer to people we love and ready to share our silver lining experience with those who don't have one yet.
Looking forward to meet you all on January 7th, 2013.

Week 3 of each month : The theme-ology challenge
Hosted by Kathi
I was watching Robbie Williams at the O2 last night (and he still has it for me! ;-) ) and maybe the title to this is a reference to his Escapology album! I don't know.. but there I go again, getting waylaid with words and my mind running amok! Anyone here remember that BT ad where Maureen Lipman was talking to her grandson and said ...'Oh you got an -ology'? You can see how my synapses jump about and the words and pictures in my head get going..

This is me! |
..
as I grow older I am turning into a combination of my Mum and my aunt, a
right laugh at myself really, for all the moaning and groaning I did
when they went off into nowhere land talking about 'back in the days
when..'
